Israel Adesanya teams up with comedian Tom Segura to trash-talk Yoel Romero on Instagram in the leadup to their scheduled championship bout.

There can be no doubt that Israel Adesanya is one of the best in the combat sports community when it comes to his social media game. Adesanya is expert when it comes to flustering his opponents and making them react to his taunts, using iconic internet memes and making videos to call other fighters out.

This trend continued last Monday, when Adesanya teamed up with comedian Tom Segura to take to Instagram and trash-talk Yoel Romero. In the video, posted on Segura’s Twitter, he comes hard at Yoel Romero while Adesanya poses and shadowboxes in the background. The Instagram post is embedded below:

The post also contains a call-out in Spanish (Romero is Cuban). Roughly translated, it says:

“Hey @yoelromeromma, listen up mate. See you in March. If this message bothers you, talk to @stylebender, pussy. #bikes”

The #bicicletas hashtag is cryptic at first, but references to a classic comedy bit by Segura about the TV show Scared Straight.  Follow this link to watch the clip.

Adesanya and Romero are scheduled to fight for the UFC Middleweight Championship at UFC 248 in Las Vegas on Saturday, 7^th March (Sunday, 8^th March New Zealand time). The co-main event is also a title fight, with reigning women’s Strawweight Champion Zhang Weili facing perennial division top-3 Joanna Jedrzejczyk.
