Auckland-born Nyrene Crowley now fights out of Bali MMA.
New Zealand’s own Nyrene Crowley is preparing to face Itsuki Hirata - a fight being dubbed a must see for MMA fans .
It is a match-up that few up-and-coming martial artists would accept, but the ‘Nuetron Bomb’ is taking the opportunity to show fans anything is possible.
Auckland-born Crowley recently signed with ONE Championship and had no hesitation in accepting the bout.
“I was out at dinner with my partner. He was sat across from me and he said, ‘So…’ Immediately in my head I thought, ‘This could be good or bad,’ and I really, honestly did not expect that to come out of his mouth,” she says in an interview with ONE Championship.
“This opportunity really came from left-field and I was honestly in shock. Both my coach and partner were like, ‘Do you want this?’ and I didn’t even think about it. I just said, ‘Yes, I want it!’
Crowley, who now fights out of Bali MMA, came to the attention of ONE Championship's fanbase in 2018 after Rich Franklin personally selected her to participate in ONE Warrior Series.
The series serves as a feeder system to ONE Championship and has featured multiple Kiwi fighters on its shows.
The ONE atomweight division is stacked with talent, and there will be no shortage of exciting matchups for the Kiwi.
In a post on social media, Crowley mentioned that she would be facing off against a 'top contender' so whoever the name ends up being, the bout will no doubt be an absolute must-see for local MMA fans.
The ONE Warrior Series (OWS) veteran answered the call to compete at ONE: WARRIOR’S CODE this Friday, February 7.
