BREAKING: Cody Brooks pulled from Eternal 50 Heavyweight Grand Prix

Cody Brooks, the Muay Thai phenom set to make his MMA debut in Eternal MMA’s upcoming heavyweight Grand Prix, has withdrawn due to injury.

Brooks, an underground coal miner, told Fight News today that he has been withdrawn from the tournament due to a workplace accident. He made no comment on the nature of the incident, only that he has his “fingers crossed” to avoid surgery.

Brooks is no stranger to danger, possessing an impressive 19-4-1 Muay Thai record. Originally a New Zealander, Brooks now represents Warrior World Gym in Newcastle, NSW.

Brooks is unique amongst the competitors in that he has had no prior MMA experience and was to make his debut at Eternal 50. It was to be no ordinary debut, however, as he planned to step into a 4-man Grand Prix from which 1 man would emerge as the Eternal MMA Heavyweight Champion.

His debut is going to have to wait, though, as the severity of his injury is yet to be determined. Following his injury, Brooks told Fight News:

“I’ve had to pull out of the tournament this time and I’m absolutely shattered I won’t be fighting, but definitely look out for me in the future because I’ll be back bigger and better. Plus, you’ll have another Kiwi on the UFC roster when I am fit again.”

We hope that Cody avoids surgery and recovers quickly. Once Eternal MMA announces his tournament replacement, Fight News will keep you updated.
