Team Lakay’s Joshua Pacio made ONE Strawweight World Title history recently, but the road to gold has not been an easy one.
Before Pacio became the first man to defend the belt twice against Alex Silva, he had to go through a training camp that tested him both mentally and physically.
Silva is undoubtedly the most dangerous grappler Pacio has faced, and he acknowledges how challenging it was to say safe when the contest went onto the mat, reports ONE Championship.
While preparing for what was one of the biggest fights for this year, Pacio was also dealing with some personal issues.
The Strawweight World Champion was dealing with the death of his grandfather who had died earlier in the month.
Pacio dedicated his recent victory to him.
Now that Pacio has made it past all those bumps in the road, he is looking forward to taking a well-earned rest and then making the improvements that will allow him to get back to his best.
Though he warns fans not to expect him to be back in the Circle in short order, he has no qualms about who he faces when he does return to action.
