At today’s UFC 248 press conference, Israel Adesanya took the opportunity to call his shot at light heavyweight kingpin Jon Jones, stating his intention to face ‘Bones’ at Raider Stadium during international fight week in 2021.

When asked about whether he needs a fight with Jon Jones to cement his legacy, Adesanya stated:

“I don’t need to, but I want to. Dana, tell Mark, save the date. 2021, Raider Stadium, International Fight Week. It’s going down.”

When pressed about Jones, Adesanya spouted forth an expletive-filled rant, stating:

“F*** Jon Jones. This is about 248…”

He followed this with more expletives, to the same effect, and refused to discuss Jon Jones further during the press conference.

When asked about his call-out of Romero on a two-fight losing streak, Adesanya was quick to answer:

“This guy here (Yoel) is a guy who no one ever calls out. Only I think David Branch called him out. I wanna test myself against everyone from this era who is a beast. He’s a beast.

“I wanna be the first man to stop him properly. Paulo rocked him, Tim Kennedy rocked him. I wanna be the first guy in the UFC to put him away.”

When asked about rising middleweight star Jared Cannonier’s claim to title contention in 2020, Adesanya stated:

“He’s a beast, he’s the dark horse of the division. He just needs one more big win. Just so America, so the world knows who he is properly. We’ll see. If he gets a fight with Darren Till.”

Adesanya continued. “This division is stacked like never before. So, trust me, I’m on top of this sh*t”

Romero was questioned about Adesanya’s performance against Robert Whittaker, given his own two fights against the former champ, Yoel grudgingly acknowledged that it was a good showing by Stylebender.

At the face-off, Adesanya towered over Romero as the Cuban blew him kisses. Following this, as Adesanya mocked the Cuban's salsa dancing, Romero broke out into a breakdance of his own, ending with a backflip into a full split! Let's hope we see these two in a dance-off as well as a fight.
