In addition to two prominent Kiwis making their One Warrior Series (OWS) debuts, Kieran ‘the Stonecutter’ Joblin will headline the OWS 10 fight card tonight in Singapore.

Joining him will be former Canterbury Fight Centre training partner James ‘Fairtex’ Bishop and renowned New Zealand kickboxer Joey Baylon.

Kieran Joblin (23-12-0) is a well-known name on the New Zealand MMA circuit, having fought some of Australasia’s best over the last decade. He most recently fought in OWS, winning his first fight in the promotion convincingly before losing his last fight via withdrawal due to a (seemingly shoulder) injury.

He is back tonight on OWS 10 in Singapore, facing South Korean fighter Byung Hee Lim in the main event of the card. Lim has a 3-4 record in professional MMA and normally fights at featherweight (145lb), seemingly being ripe for the plucking by Joblin in tonight’s lightweight bout (155lb). If Joblin passes this test he should be well on his way into the One Championship ranks proper.

James Bishop is a former training partner of the Stonecutter at the Canterbury Fight Centre and then at the Elite Fight Complex under the Lost Boys’ banner, before Bishop left in early 2019 to take up a scholarship at Fairtex gym in Thailand.

Bishop is a well-rounded MMA fighter with crisp boxing and murderous punching power, having held his own over six rounds against now-WBU World Champion Bowyn Morgan in a professional boxing match in 2018.

He fights another South Korean: Myung Gu Kim, who is 10-6-0 but on a three-fight losing skid at present. Kim is looking to prove he’s still got it, while Bishop is looking to show he belongs on the big stage!

The third Kiwi on the card is long-time kickboxing standout Joey ‘the Filipino Kid’ Baylon, who is making his transition to MMA with no shortcuts. Baylon is a multiple titleholder in kickboxing, including being a King in the Ring champion and a former WKBF world champion.

Baylon is set to take on Indian Manthan Rane, a fighter who made his professional MMA debut on OWS in June 2019, defeating Allan Albindo by unanimous decision. He will have his hands full tonight!

You can watch OWS 10 by downloading the One Championship App. The main card starts at 9pm NZT.
