Jalin Turner came into today’s UFC bout against undefeated Josh Culibao with a 100 per cent finish rate, which he continued with a second-round TKO victory due to ground-and-pound strikes.
Round 1
The fight started quickly, with Culibao struggling to get past the reach of the taller Turner. They clinched up and Turner ended up atop Culibao, dropping elbows as he framed the head away.
Turner threw strikes into the clinch, attempting the body-lock as Culibao defended with the knee-shield.
In the scramble, Turner snatched up the neck of Culibao and managed to clasp his hands together atop the half-guard. Culibao fought the hands well and surged to his feet with 40 seconds to go.
Turner threw clinch strikes on the exit and effective straights from range to end the round. 10-9 Turner.
Round 2
The second started with Culibao taking the centre, albeit briefly as he backed away from the rangy strikes of Turner.
When they found the ground again, it was Turner who once again found himself in top position, taking the back and flattening Culibao on his stomach before unloading a barrage of strikes from the top. When the elbows begain to rain, the referee had seen enough, waving off the action.
TKO Turner.
