Polish fighter Karolina Kowalkiewicz is heading for surgery after suffering a facial injury in her fight at UFC Fight Night in Auckland.

Xiaonan Yan lived up to the hype with a clinical destruction of Karolina Kowalkiewicz at UFC Auckland, taking her record to 12-1-0 in pro MMA.

Yan busted up the face of Kowalkiewicz with accurate strikes output at a high rate. In the second round, Kowalkiewicz started shielding her right eye, clearly protecting an injury inflicted by Yan.

At the start of the third round, Kowalkiewicz’ face was swollen and bloody.

She ate a side kick to the face, after which a grappling exchange occurred, wherein she had her most successful moment of the fight, hunting a heel hook.

According to Kowalkiewicz, she suffered an eye injury during the opening round that hampered her vision for the remainder of the fight.

In a video posted to her Instagram, the 34-year-old revealed the extent of her injuries while adding that she will be headed for surgery to repair the damage done.
