The line-up for the next King in the Ring (KitR) tournament has been announced. This iteration will see eight elite Super Middleweights (75kg) battle it out for the $10,000 prize and bragging rights as King in the Ring.
The event takes place on Friday, 20th March at Eventfinda Stadium in Auckland.
The line-up features several recognisable names, including reigning 72kg KitR champ Mike ‘Blood’ Diamond, reigning 68kg KitR champ Arshia Ebadi, and a host of other well-known New Zealand names.
The full line-up for the one-night tournament is as follows:
Mike ‘Blood Diamond’ Mathetha – Reigning 72kg King in the Ring. Fighting out of City Kickboxing.
Arshia Ebadi – Reigning 68kg King in the Ring. Fighting out of Kings Academy.
Nick Taylor – Former 68kg KitR competitor and veteran of the sport. Fighting out of Dunedin Kickboxing, where he is head coach.
Oscar Remihana – WBC and WKA champion. Fighting out of SMAC gym.
Terrance Montgomery – Former 75kg KitR contender. Fighting out of Wild Stables gym.
Mike Kapi – Reserve fighter for 86kg KitR tournament. Has faced some of New Zealand’s best fighters. Fighting out of Assassins Muay Thai.
Jesse Morrow Wilson – WKBF New Zealand champion, IKBF North Island champion. Fighting out of Tihipuke Muay Thai.
Haamiora Parsons-Grace – Fighting out of Strikeforce Auckland.
In case any of the above fighters sustain an injury in the weeks to come, the following reserve fighters are also in fight camp ready to step in on a moment’s notice.
Sam Wallace - Fighting out of Rock City MMA.
Ajay Al Saeed – Fighting out of Kings Academy.
